I've got a '98 sedan w/ y7.. had o2 code changed o2, code still comes up.. switch the plugs for the lower o2 code changes from o2 #1 to o2 #2.. diagnosis is that the plug on the engine harness is fubarred, correct? and will having 1 o2 not working stop this thing from passing the etest? has anyone had an issue like this? any help would be greatly appreciated. i do have a 2nd engine harness thats been cut but has 2 good o2 connectors on it, would cutting the plug off and re-wiring the engine harness in the car be a good start?

Thanks

you might have a bad 02 sensor

changing the plugs might help

there isnt any diffrance between obd1/obd2 o2 sensors

yes you need both o2's to pass

what spark plugs are you running ?

changed plugs.. tried 2 known good o2's and got the same code.. but when i switched the plug top to bottom it went from bank 1/sensor 1 to bank1/sensor2 ... changed the lower to another known good one and same thing... and i've put new plugs in it.. not 100% sure what they were but new stock ones.. wires are new also.. so i'm stumped other then trying to re-wire the plug on the engine harness...

Check the harness for broken/corroded wires. Also, check the connectors for corrosion and bent pins.

What is the o2 Code exactly? Including number and position. NGK iridium plugs are a hit or miss sort of thing. Your engine was engineered for specific plugs. With that being said try to follow your owners manual as to what you should be using NGK: ZFR5F-11 is the OEM plug your engine was designed to use.

PASSED with flying colours... it was the secondary o2 sensor that was the issue, tried new ones but to no evail, so tried it with the light on and it worked. I have never had ANY trouble with the iridiums.. just make sure you buy from a parts store and not a CTC store.
