yeah i've had this stuff a few times. there's locations in toronto and ottawa now. it seems like a success story for the owners.

it's decent, but not necessarily worth it. the country style with chicken and mushrooms was pretty great though. i would probably eat it if i was drunk, but sober most likely not unless i was really hungry.

And they said.... ??

Nothing ever lasts there.... I doubt a poutine only place will... but hey I'll be there once or twice regardless before it closes...

ever been to bubbas after the bar for poutine?
it will work if they plan their hours properly.

Bubba's also has a "full menu" as far as pizza/pita/poutine goes. But only drunken idiots pay the $10 or whatever it is for the worst poutine ever...

Pita grills kicks thier ass IMO... not in qaulity, its about the same, but for price point its like $5 bucks for a poutine at the grill...

This smokes poutine is literally JUST poutine variations... I give it... hmmm 8 months..

the point is not idk why people do it... they do

but its the fact that there is obviously a market for it and if they can go to this new place and get something cool at the same price without a massive wait... you have just won the market over.

^^^ Who the hell said there was a market for it? ...and how do you know they'll have short lines?

lol. What you think is not always reality.

That there is certainly not going to be short lines after the bars thats for sure... but the advantage Smokes will have is ALL they do is Poutine, so they should have a shit load of supplies ready and waiting ALL THE TIME. However, were it will slow down is ppl drunk and stupid, saying.. wow...look at all the flavors... hmm what do I want.... then your back to huge lines... However that will be thier lively hood, and if that fails, there cooked.
Its somewhat of a "novelty food" at this level, poutine with chicken and veggies?? Its going to be one of those things that 80% of thier target market will try at least once (going to smokes) and judge the whole business model on that one trip. You might be lucky and have them return 3 -6 times with a mixture of sober/drunk trips, but its not solid enough to make a long standing run, ESPECIALLY if its a franchise and not a corp. store, also of course depending who's opening it if its franchised, however even the rich know when its not worth tryin to save anymore... Its a market but a very niche one at best....

Some of the most successful restos specialize in one thing... and do it really well.

There's a homemade Mac & Cheese resto in NYC - I want to go to it badly.

i have a feeling it'll do fine in kingston. the other locations are all very successful and this company has gone from 1-2 locations to many more within a year.

Finally! A thread about poutine.

To give you an idea about the level of love I have for the stuff...here's a real life anecdote from about 10:30 this morning. I went to the kitchen at work, said fuck it to my usual coffee and english muffin and re-heated my poutine from Friday's lunch instead. Fucking delicious.

I work in Gananoque and have bought poutine everywhere in town that I can find. And let me tell you, some places make me want to take off the lid and throw it back inside the place.

My number one and most common complaint......Do NOT shred the fucking cheese! Jesus, Mary and Joseph who in the fuck grates the cheese so every fucking bite is a super long stringy mess with minimal actual cheese content? I want chunks O curd...not grated "white" cheese. I say white because it ain't mozzarella and it ain't curd.

Rant over, looking forward to this place.

And drunk poutine is the best...like all food.
